Happy New Year! 2012 is upon us and a year of new beginnings, may you all achieve what you wish for.
I set some time aside to create a new outfit today and had all sorts of ideas when I started pilfering through my characters vaults for interesting pieces I had picked up through questing. I always see a piece or two that go together and leave them because I want the full set, i.e. matching the leggings with a matching chest piece. (Check out Cosmetic Lotro’s Black Rose for an absolutely gorgeous outfit of these unique leggings and matching chest piece). But since I haven’t quite got there questing-wise as it’s a volume piece quite far ahead in the books my Captain has a bit more work to do. I wanted to see what else would work with these leggings and so a lot of mixing and matching began for a good few hours and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
Armour doesn’t have to be all one set, all heavy or all light, or even one colour to work. But although this may not be the most colourful outfit I absolutely love the combination of heavy armour and spiked shoulder-guards with a softer touch with the cloak and the white dye. I’m a big fan of white cosmetics and always find it’s one of the hardest colours to work with because everything dyes so differently in this colour.
I did struggle to find some booties to match this outfit but I simply don’t have the time to log back on after I’ve spend a good 2-3 hours making this outfit. So if anyone can suggest anything that I may have missed or suggestions for improvement please go ahead and help me make this better.
Head: Elven Winged Helm [Rivendell Armoursmith] ~White/Default~
Shoulders: Rododhranc [Vol 1- book 9, ch3 or Dwarf-make Knight's Armour t5 - Metalsmith] ~White~
Back: Swan-Cloak [Store item] ~White/Default~
Chest: Elven Warriors Armour [Heavy Crafted t5] ~White~
Hands: Gauntlets of Moria [World drop] ~White~
Legs: Golubadanir [Quest Reward – Angmar] ~White~
Feet: Elven Steel Boots [Heavy Crafted t3 or Rivendell Armoursmith] ~White~
Notes: Rodombadnir also has the same cosmetics as the Golubadanir, and can be obtained from Vol. 1 Book 10 – Chapter 5: Springing the Trap. Golubadanir is from the quest Dark Vengeance in Aughaire.
The Gauntlets of Moria surprisingly are not actually found in Moria, but instead are a level 33 item found around areas such as North-Downs and Evendim. A lot of the Dwarf-Make gloves (expert tier) from earlier tiers of Metalsmith and also from the top of my head I think The Forsaken Inn also do a similar cosmetic for the gloves, it’s not quite a match but since there is a bit of brown on the boots then the gloves would also work since they’re part of the same crafted set if you have a Metalsmith.
This outfit also matches the new Frosty Horse festival steed! You can swap the Swan-Cloak for the Fancy Winter Cloak for a better match with the mount and it will also work in navy very well with this outfit if you are not one for spending store points on cosmetics.
