Miners of Moria – Kinship Uniform 1

A few posts ago I mentioned that I had been given the task of creating a few outfits for my kinship, Miners of Moria, to wear. This is the first idea I wanted to share with you guys, and the first of about 3-4. The cloak immediately made me think of my kin, and although not exactly the same as the Doors of Durin and the likeness more like the White Tree of Minas Tirith, for me the light blue details stood out and made this a very unique cloak for us to be wearing.

The problem I faced creating this outfit was the light blue details on the cloak were very difficult to match anything that could be crafted or bought from a vendor by anyone at any level, as I wanted to completely disregard all cosmetic items acquired via a quest. I also only wanted the ‘main’ part of this armour that people would wear is the cloak, chest piece and leggings. I didn’t want us all looking the same to the extent a lover of heavy armour wouldn’t appreciate it. Thus, the Helm, Shoulders, Gloves and Boots were player’s choice and could be light armour slippers for a Rune-Keeper feel or heavy plated Orthanc boots to feel that protection charging into battle first with a shield and sword.

A bonus I believe is that in Black, this outfit would look fantastic atop Orthanc battling Saruman or combined and mixed with some of the very black and white Orthanc pieces. Below I have added a burgundy dye and tried the look on my little hobbit.

Personalized items left to the choice of the player are the Helm, Gloves, Shoulders and Boots. In this outfit I liked the light blue on the Dar Narbugud Armour from my Hunter and used these, along with some shoulder-guards from the epic book quest.

Observing Orthanc

When I first heard of being able to buy Ettenmoors barter tokens and trade them in for armour for any class to use as cosmetics, I was over the moon. However upon spending a lot of gold and missing one more spirit stone the next update for the game arrived and this feature was removed. The one and only piece I REALLY wanted with a passion was the helm used for Minstrels, Lore-Masters and Rune-Keepers on the secondary armour set. While questing aside the Great River in Update 6 a lot of us quickly realised a lot of armour pieces have old armour sets for specific classes, or old Moria 50+ crafted sets with a little twist. This is a happy compromise I believe and the Helm I used here I am never going to tire of it, it’s by far my favourite cosmetic item ever and the more it is used in simple outfits the better as a lot of shoulder guards and cloaks will cover it up.

I personally preferred the outfit without the Shoulder piece but there was a part of me thinking ‘But that means I only have 2 pieces, have I gotten that lazy?’ So the screenshots below show the shoulder guards I liked with this the best, and it can be up to you whether you use them.

I finally got the helm I always wanted!

Masked Marauder

Prior my previous post about trying to find an outfit for the Cloak of Evasion I remade my burglar that day and planned to get the Ceremonial Thrill-Seekers Helm from the Skirmish barterer, which was easy now since the exchange system has been changed and I no longer had to do the Rift skirmish 10 times to get the right campaign marks (woot). While playing around in the Wardrobe I noticed the helm still is pretty brown and can’t be made black, so as usual the search began for black and roguish looking cosmetics which had some dark brown on them and lo and behold the Cloak of Evasion had just that when dyed black (basically it’s not really black when dyed, but matches the helm brilliantly in colour).

There are a few bootie options with this outfit, and I went for the quest reward boots with the dagger in them but any soft leather boots will work here. Also, with recent discoveries about the rooftops of Bree, how could I not take a screenshot up there with my shady hobbit burglar? A great alternate for this outfit is Cosmetic Lotro’s Rooftop Runner

Notes: I’m quite annoyed that lately my screenshots seem to be lacking in quality and having a lot of noise in them, so I’d like to update the screenshots in the last couple posts if I can work out where i’m going wrong, but I think I know why it just means from now on it will take twice as long to get my screenshots but I’ll do it if it means better quality.

Resolute Rangers

After levelling my second level 75 a few weeks back with a friend, we decided to venture off and explore the area around Tâl Methedras Gate. When you first enter this instance-like zone by the lake through the door and head straight up the mountain, veering right, you come across a wonderful bunch of snowmen and igloo’s. I loved this area; it reminded me of the Yule festival zone. However upon completing the books I never went back, until tonight…

I thought the perfect place to showcase these two outfits would be that area full of snowmen, and thought it would be nice and cheerful for Christmas. However upon finding it I was horrified to find the snowmen’s heads had fallen off and the igloo’s were smashed and broken! I decided tonights character poses would show my disappointment as the books must have changed this area when I completed it, and it’s a nice little Easter egg I’m glad I found that changes areas along with the books, (However it doesn’t change the fact that you destroyed all the snowmen, Turbine!) and although my Rune-Keeper doesn’t have skills that are anything like a ranger, she can sure strike a thunderous look can’t she?

From the new update Book 5 is in my opinion a little short and disappointing however the cosmetics make it all worth it! Within one minute you can receive all six pieces of a cosmetic outfit from starting book five at the Rohirrim Scout-Camp, and there are TWO cosmetic outfits to choose from!

All pieces are default colours.

P.S. It was unfortunately night in Middle-Earth and I apologise for the purple tint the pictures seem to have now, but I wanted to update before I leave for a few days tomorrow and had no choice. I will update these in the future and split them into two seperate outfits and it will have nothing at all to do with snow. As always comments help me improve and see what i’m doing right and wrong <3

Casual & Carefree

I’m really pleased with how this outfit turned out, I’d had the chest and legs as an outfit before but with the cloak and hat added I love it even more on my elf.

Everything must have gone wrong while trying to take these screenshots and crop them, it was raining in 90% of Middle-Earth and I was limited as to where I could go where it wouldn’t be raining, and then night fell so I lost a lot of light. While cropping my pc ran very slow and I was getting very frustrated so I decided to just go ahead and wait, what’s another hour when it’s a Saturday? I could go get some lunch and try again later. So here is the result :) (Notice it still didn’t change from night?)

Note: The Boots in the last image are not used in this outfit, however in my opinion suit it better. I did not include these since people might not have the pre-order items, but if you do they work great. Also this outfit may suit a burglar perfectly with a hood! Especially the rift cosmetic hood.

Skulking Scout

I have been using this cosmetic for just over a year and it slowly got updated each time like when the Store came about with the Traveller’s Hood, and with some of the Isengard cosmetics.

Up until Isengard I was using Wolf-Pelt leggings in black (Quest reward from the lumber camp outside of Combe) They work just as good if you are a lower level player not able to reach Dunland yet, and with brown boots of another kind should still work.

Note: The gloves also have the same cosmetic as Leather Gauntlets from the armour venders in Esteldin.

Helm: Traveller’s Hood [Store item] ~Black~

Shoulders: Westfold Assault Shoulder Guards [Crafted t7 – light] ~Black~

Chest: Radiant Armour [Crafted t5 – Light] ~Black~

Legs: Scarred Leg-guards of the Pren Gwydh Warrior [Quest Reward – Dunland] ~Grey~

Feet: Hill-man’s Cracked Leather Boots [Quest Reward – Dunland] ~Black~
