Falcon’s Folly

I’m back with an update! It’s a miracle :-P

I first must apologise once again for the long time between updates, I’ve had so many cosmetics to play with lately (rift, helegrod, all my guardian class cosmetics while I levelled) that I’ve just been enjoying the full outfits of many of these pieces rather than mixing and matching to create something unique. I now have five level 75 characters and have had a blast reaching cap on my guard since she was left at 46 for two years and I never thought she would see the rest of middle-earth again!

This outfit sort of fell into my lap, I was only putting together all of my favourites from the Helegrod pieces which were advertised in the store recently (of which I had to get some via store and some via the skirmish barter due to lack of medallions and marks having spent them on the Rift sets the previous week!).

I had never actually noticed the boots before until I took some time to look at them when they were advertised in the store and I immediately had to use them somehow, and this outfit looks pretty nice in red/crimson too, but then again doesn’t everything? I use far too much of that stuff so I went with a dye I’d never used before because it always seemed too bold/rich for me, which is why I only used it in small doses here.

The area I took these screenshots in was Tal Methedras because I love the storyline of this place, and the winter feel to the outfit meant I would fit right in. Unfortunately it was night when I showed up to take screenshots but the silhouetted background was beautiful and I wanted to try and make it work, bringing this feel of ‘I’ll get you falcon clan..and your pretty little wolves too”…

I might try taking these screenshots again when it’s a little lighter in middle-earth but for now I wanted to hurry this update up, I’d left it too long already. Also, the images are appearing a little smaller than i’d like, I may still be on the lookout for a better theme which gives me even bigger screenshots. Don’t forget to click the images for the better details/larger screenshots on my blog.

Miners of Moria – Kinship Uniform 1

A few posts ago I mentioned that I had been given the task of creating a few outfits for my kinship, Miners of Moria, to wear. This is the first idea I wanted to share with you guys, and the first of about 3-4. The cloak immediately made me think of my kin, and although not exactly the same as the Doors of Durin and the likeness more like the White Tree of Minas Tirith, for me the light blue details stood out and made this a very unique cloak for us to be wearing.

The problem I faced creating this outfit was the light blue details on the cloak were very difficult to match anything that could be crafted or bought from a vendor by anyone at any level, as I wanted to completely disregard all cosmetic items acquired via a quest. I also only wanted the ‘main’ part of this armour that people would wear is the cloak, chest piece and leggings. I didn’t want us all looking the same to the extent a lover of heavy armour wouldn’t appreciate it. Thus, the Helm, Shoulders, Gloves and Boots were player’s choice and could be light armour slippers for a Rune-Keeper feel or heavy plated Orthanc boots to feel that protection charging into battle first with a shield and sword.

A bonus I believe is that in Black, this outfit would look fantastic atop Orthanc battling Saruman or combined and mixed with some of the very black and white Orthanc pieces. Below I have added a burgundy dye and tried the look on my little hobbit.

Chest: Rock-Climber’s Armour [Crafted T6 – Tailor] ~Black~

Legs: Rock-Climber’s Leggings [Crafted T6 – Tailor] ~Black~

Personalized items left to the choice of the player are the Helm, Gloves, Shoulders and Boots. In this outfit I liked the light blue on the Dar Narbugud Armour from my Hunter and used these, along with some shoulder-guards from the epic book quest.

Clad in Claret

One of my first dress outfits was Burgundy Belle, and this is very much still one of my Lore-Masters outfits today, but since the Yule festival I now have another Burgundy outfit I would like to share with you all. I think I am a little too in love with the Burgundy dye and already know another outfit I will be sharing with you that is also Burgundy, so I will try and force myself to use some other dyes a little more after this :P

I checked my blog today to find I now have 10 followers! I’m a very quiet person both in life and online, and in no way advertise as much as I should to get my blog out there; because it is simply a hobby and I wasn’t expecting responses as I just wanted a place to store my outfits, but it truly does mean the world to me and just wanted to say thank you for the support and comments people have left, and whether I have 10 followers or 100 I will remember the smile I have right now knowing people liked my blog so much they clicked that wonderful button!

Vibrant Variations

For the entire week where I live by the beach, it has been sunshine and crystal blue skies. All of that typical rainy British weather has disappeared and everywhere I go there are people enjoying the sun and I couldn’t help but notice they had made the most of it and pulled out their summer wardrobes early.

This meant one thing: colour! It seems to have seaped into my Lotro as well, and my Hunter and Lore-master have now become very colourful as a result. I’ve once again been using my trusty Radiant Armour chest piece that works wonderfully in every colour, and by the end of this post I hope you love this top just as much as me.

Also, I watched Puss In Boots yesterday and have been a little obsessed with the plumed hats ever since!

I understand that pieces used in many outfits on cosmetics blogs can be hard to acquire if it’s a quest item or reputation item, this second outfit I have deliberately kept basic without the reputation Lossoth gloves and quest Leggings, to show you that you can still make anything work even if they are the basic items from Bree.

Sterling Soldier

After finally completing all quests in The Great River region I got my hands on this fabulous and unique chain robe. I have been wearing it without a helm or gloves the past couple of nights raiding atop Orthanc wondering what was missing. As Saruman finally surrendered to my kin for the first time (insert applause here) I was very motivated to create something out of this robe, and obtained the Malledhrim crafted heavy set; which I have been after for a very long time but stupidly enough never just asked for someone to craft it for me until tonight.

I never realised just how wonderful the pieces are in this set, I have been staring at the helm for about 10 minutes now because it’s just sooo so beautiful and compliments the robe perfectly with the chainmail at the back. Gloves were the only issue I came across but I expected this as I read about it from Hymne over at CosmeticLotro, there are bad clipping issues with nearly all gloves and this robe so I went very basic, and dyed them gold in an attempt to help the gold that is on the helm.

I have been tasked with creating an outfit for my kin to all wear also, and I’ve made some good progress so I will most likely be adding my ideas and designs onto this blog sometime in the coming weeks.

For now, happy hunting as always.

Swift Scouts

Quick update for you all today, as I have a Kin meeting I need to get to ASAP! There is clipping issues with the Cloak on the Man, hence no cloak in the screenshots, and I have no Male elf to show off unfortunately, but I would say this would definitely look good on a male elf also.

I hope you are all enjoying the Update 6, I certainly am! My passion for the game and outfitting especially is very much ignited right now and I hope to have another outfit for you all next week.

Observing Orthanc

When I first heard of being able to buy Ettenmoors barter tokens and trade them in for armour for any class to use as cosmetics, I was over the moon. However upon spending a lot of gold and missing one more spirit stone the next update for the game arrived and this feature was removed. The one and only piece I REALLY wanted with a passion was the helm used for Minstrels, Lore-Masters and Rune-Keepers on the secondary armour set. While questing aside the Great River in Update 6 a lot of us quickly realised a lot of armour pieces have old armour sets for specific classes, or old Moria 50+ crafted sets with a little twist. This is a happy compromise I believe and the Helm I used here I am never going to tire of it, it’s by far my favourite cosmetic item ever and the more it is used in simple outfits the better as a lot of shoulder guards and cloaks will cover it up.

I personally preferred the outfit without the Shoulder piece but there was a part of me thinking ‘But that means I only have 2 pieces, have I gotten that lazy?’ So the screenshots below show the shoulder guards I liked with this the best, and it can be up to you whether you use them.

I finally got the helm I always wanted!

Magnificent Maiden

I finally found some time to start some new content with Update 6 (having been working my butt off the past 4 weeks with a new job) and upon getting stuck into the storyline of the Rohirrim, Fishermen and Elves and their wariness of each other I began to feel my Human Captain never really noticed this until now, having maxed kindred with the Galadhrim I headed to Lothlórien and got Screenshot happy (which is extremely difficult given the glow/aura around everything in Lothlórien). Just out of pure boredom I decided to make a Warden and check out the new changes and found that the Westfold Cloak that came with the Pre-order had changed!

I previously hated this cloak and wished it was white like the rest of the outfit and couldn’t understand why just the cloak was beige and every other Westfold piece was white – including the horse blanket. Happy with this change I immediately added it to my white dress and circlet, added in the shoulders and fell in love. My captain – now looking more like a ranger had a twist to it, standing in Lothlórien admiring the views she tried to gain the respect of the elves of this place and having the best of both worlds could look regal, but also join the Horse Lords in their quest to Rohan. If you already have this cloak in the Wardrobe it may show up the old colour (it did with me) but upon taking it out and putting it back in you can get the new crisp white cosmetic. You can type /reclaim to get all the Pre-order items back if you find you removed the item after putting it in the wardrobe.

I have noticed some fantastic new cosmetics with the first couple of quests I have done by the river in the new area (and noticed it’s a lot of raid/instance gear with changed dye options) which is a happy compromise for those who could not obtain it due to not having the right class or ability to raid, cosmetics for all!

As of next week my work schedule is going to calm down and as I adjust to juggling work and gaming I’m hoping I can find a balance which will not make me neglect my hobby of standing in front of the Lotro wardrobe. Keep checking back!

Happy hunting.

Cryptic Crook

Finally! This update has taken me weeks :P Mostly because it was one of those outfits where I kept changing little things and I think no amount of changing pieces was going to impress me it was a pain, but I settled on the pieces in the end. I also tried Fraps for the screenshots but I had so many problems with file types and images showing up too dark (my PSP program I use to lighten them generally lightens images anyway; so when I save thinking they’re fine, they’re actually not = stress).

When I was levelling my captain and I entered this BEAUFITUL solo instance I knew it would be a long time until I had another character here, and I wanted to capture the moment with screenshots, sparking my idea for a tomb robber outfit. This gave me the perfect opportunity to head to the buried treasure event and grab me a sack of gold, although a little awkward to dye as it doesn’t dye any dark colours >:-[.

The majority of the pieces are Isengard instance drops so it may seem a little strange to then use Radiant Armour for the chest piece but a lot of the Isengard armour has clipping issues, and the chest piece is one of my favourites in any colour and I couldn't resist it in Crimson.

This outfit was actually just a compilation of all my favourite pieces at the moment, and they all work for an outfit so i'm super happy. I probably should have added some of the new emotes to it as well but I actually don't have any of them yet! So much to do :P

This will be my last update for a couple of weeks now as I am visiting family for a while for my Dad's wedding, as well as starting my new job I want my focus to be on my real life for the moment as you may have read in my previous update post.

Update – Lack of Savs

I was going to post an outfit for you all today because I had the perfect idea but I am missing one head piece that I want for it and I can only wait for it to crop up on auction house or run an instance for it and hope I get lucky, and since i’m such a perfectionist I really want the piece before I post the outfit so I apologise and it will be a little longer for the next outfit.

I have been crazy busy February and will continue to be so until March as I have to visit my family next week for a wedding! As well as just enjoying lotro (and finding my kin was in need of a captain I levelled my captain from 51 to 75 from last Thursday to this Tuesday and she’s already half geared in Draigoch armour lol) But now the initial power levelling craze was over I have some more time to stand in front of the wardrobe.

I also have a wonderful new job and will be working a little more now which will take some time away from lotro as of next week but not a drastic change. In the meantime enjoy the  Treasure Hunt that’s going on and get yourselves some free mounts and cosmetics!

Happy gaming,

Savs
